so doing this joining the 87 and 30 will the car start when the key is on as it normally would????

that picture is a relay and NOT the inhibitor switch.

if the wires are not the same colors, do the same as above, and while cranking touch the end of the wire to each of the other three in turn and the find the starter wire that way. BTW you will need the relay in place for the car to crank
