I took off my rocker cover and since I put it back on my car has been starting rather poorly.

It usually starts instantly but usually takes around 5 seconds of holding down the key to start it.

What's wrong here?

All the leads are on fine and battery is charged.

The gasket leak solves it you mean???

The cheapest gasket I could find that fits was $40 which is a fair bit.

Would this leak cause excessive consumption?

The mechanic at G&D said he wouldn't worry about it.
