Hey guys, my car seems to ping when filling with normal unleaded. I tried a few tanks of premium and it seemed to have gone away..any reason why this is happening?
it only started to do this recently, and ran fine before on normal 91ron fuel.. |

140+ rwkw is really pushing to be run on 91 IMO, I'd be running on 95 at least.

I used to run my ELXR8 on unleaded then it started pinging once the ks started to get up. Now I use 95 premium car runs great on it last week 535ks around town on a tank.
279000 ks on the clock 5 speed manual. Dave.

whats power got to do with the fuel?
its still running standard compression so i thought it would of been fine using the fuel it was made to run on- 91. Might just be getting old, ill try 95ron in the next few tanks and see how i go. |

Have you checked the ignition timing lately?????

I find that some of the lower ron fuels are becoming poorer and poorer in quality. My mrs has an 89 KE laser, always used 91ron fuel for years, only over the last couple of years does the car ping, but as soon as I noticed that, I told her to start using 95ron fuel. Made the car idle better and give a little bit more power.
