It's pretty hard to recommend anything when you're being so general and vague with your answers.

just got it to run on gas but still not on petrol

If it runs okay on gas, i.e. idles and revs, then it sounds like a petrol delivery problem, particularly if it takes a few cranks and then fires on gas, as they're usually a petrol start.
If you earth the top right most pin of the diagnosis connector, select 'petrol', and turn the ignition on, the fuel pump should run continuously, while the engine is off.
If the balancer mark is sitting at 12 o'clock when timing checked, I'd think most likely you haven't gone through the correct base timing procedure. Still, this shouldn't stop it even kicking on petrol.

I would backtrack and recheck everything you've moved/disturbed, etc, including adjacent areas - already done that, well do it again.

Also recheck your timing chain setup if you're still doubtful about it.

i forgot to post that i got it running on petrol on tuesday some idot labled the fuel lines wrong and put them round the wrong bloody way, all good now  . when i tryed to do the base timing and put the comp into self test mode the idle speed only increased to about 1000RPM the book says that it should be around 1500RPM would this count as a problem
