3.9 is a bit high for me i think. it would be using to much fuel on open highway driving.

I have a Spare 3.9L sitting out in my shed under a tarp atm and was thinking today i might start building that up while its just sitting on the stand? i was thinking of doing everything including

New ported head
bored block
crank
pistons
toughfen up my clutch

and i already have:

Camshaft
springs
zausht and extractors
T5

think its worth it? and how much will it set me back taking in mind i already have:

cam
zausht and headers
t5
thermos
air intake
mpfi

well at least get an LSD. more power through a single spin diff will not improve your time at all!

to be honest if u want to go fast a high 13 will be ur limit for a 6 without spending ridiculous amounts of money.

Your better off building ur motor with strenghtened internals and deep dish pistons etc for forced induction IMO.

Buy an aftermarket computer so u can tune it now and then u can use it with ur turbo too..

EA Fairmont Ghias, 2.97 or something LSD...

As for what to do... well, if you have a big cam, then tune it with an aftermarket computer.

Cheers

i have a best 60 ft time of 2.27 in my EA 5 speed with 2.92 LSD, so you should deffinately be able to get your times down if you can launch it harder. My car only ran 16.2 with that 60 ft time, dead stock EA!

I'd go with a 3.45 LSD and some top quality rear tyres, then you will be able to launch with more rpm, that alone i reckon would see you down to 14.5. I reckon the next step after that would be head work.

If you get stronger engine internals, you could increase the rev limiter. Would bigger injectors help?

Just some handy info for you southy, to help you think about a ratio change.
I'd be thinking about 3.27's, or maybe 3.45's if you are keen. That is IF you keep the EA box.
EA T5 Ratios
1st 3.50:1- 2nd 2.14:1 - 3rd 1.39:1 - 4th 1.00:1 - 5th 0.78:1 FD - 2.92

For comparison...
EB XR6
1st 3.25:1- 2nd 1.99:1 - 3rd 1.29:1 - 4th 1.00:1 - 5th 0.72:1 FD - 3.45

EB XR8
1st 2.95:1- 2nd 1.94:1 - 3rd 1.34:1 - 4th 1.00:1 - 5th 0.73:1 FD - 3.27 (4L's 0wn, teh 5L 5ux0r.....)

....and finally for s**t and giggles....
ED XR8 Sprint
1st 3.35:1- 2nd 1.99:1 - 3rd 1.33:1 - 4th 1.00:1 - 5th 0.72:1 FD - 3.27 (....until you give them decent ratios... whoops!)

EA T5's are supposedly weaker, from what I hear, but I have no definate knowledge either way.

Consider doing some major headwork if you havent touched the head already. For about $1000 or there abouts you can get a ball tearer head which flows like the clappers with new bowls, tested, flowed etc. I got mine for a good price through a good mate of mine. if you're interested PM me and i can give you his number and take it from there if you like. I'll even come down with you if you want. thats how much i stand by his work.
