hey guys,

i wanna get an exhaust system for my car, i was thinking about getting a catback system because i've heard they are good.

im wondering what kind of system i should get, becasue i've heard of alot of s**t house xr6 with exhausts.

i would like something that has a nice growl to it, but does not drone of course.

anyways any word of advice would be great, thanks

Steve

A ford 6 will always sound pooey with an exhaust unless you have a decent sized cam, and some more comp to make it pop.
Maybe when you hear one you like go and have a chat to the owner because i have never heard a 4.0 i liked the sound of :D including my own

I would go a Mercury off the shelf 2.5in system. Front muffler and small resinator (hotdog)in the tail pipe. They sound good on e-series 4.0l. They should have a system for a BA.

I have heard mixed reports about using the xr6 turbo exhaust catback on a standard BA. Might pay to browse through youtube, plenty of exhaust clips in there.

You could always go custom and get the exhaust shop to try a few different mufflers until you like the sound. That's what I did anyway..

Cheers........

i have a mercury 2.5 inch from the cat back with no other engine mods on my XT. I kept both mufflers but they are smaller straight through (sports) mufflers, with a chrome dump pipe tip.

Although being a XR6 you should have the hole there.

I have had nothing but good comment on my cars sound. Some people have even asked if its a v8 when at idle, although it sounds like a six with the foot down if you take it easier people can't pick what engines in it
