Hey All,

I'm looking at getting a wade 1636 for my fairy and Wade have told me I need a extra set of standard shims to fit the cam. What are "shims" exactly, and how many do I need, and how much am I supposed to pay?
I have no idea with this stuff lol.

Shims are what go in your rocker arms, just before the lifters (or the HLAs if you want). If they said you need an extra set then thats 12 shims. And you'd buy the from ford ford $60 odd dollars I think.

Basically because it'sa regrind cam, you need to make up for the space that was ground off it, by filling the space with shims.

Cheers

Or you can go the backyard mechanic way and use....washers. Cost $0.60.

Backyard mech or not, regardless they work and work well when fitted correctly. We use hardened washers, JMM use washers and many wade customers have also used washers.

Err, why don't people go to a wrecker, and get them out of an engine somewhere? Maybe alot cheaper? (they fit well in your pocket)

I just got a set of 12 from an NC engine we converted to AU.
