HI

I am in need of a new exhaust for my car, and thought i might as well look into getting something a little sportier fitted.

I have rung around a few places and the best I have found so far is $350 fitted for a custom system. That isnt too bad, however it is a bit of a drive for me to get there (liverpool exhaust)

I was on the undertanding from reading other posts that I should be able to get something for under $300 I havent even been able to get a standard system for that!

Can anyone recomend somewhere to get a cheapish system from?

Open to any and all offers!

ring any carline mufflers place. should be able to give you a lukey system for less than 300 depending on what kind of exhaust tip you go for

did you ask for a price from liverpool without a tip? because maybe they quoted you with one included...

I got quoted $380 by 2 places for off the shelf catback exhausts with SS tip. I'm sure as hell not buying an exhaust from my town.

You could also go down a different track to everyone else and get a custom system made up with a proper straight through high flow muffler with either a very small offset (1/2inch from either end or centre to centre). Will outperform the muffler you get when you buy either a redback or lukey which is offset by alot.

Pick out a good quality lukey ultraflow muffler and get some 2.5in pipe bent up. All up will cost about $240 and should out perform the generic off the shelf systems due to you having a higher flowing muffler.

Don't be to worried about people saying that you will lose power with pressed bends over mandrel bends. A good fitter can minimise them to a degree and with a N/A motor the flow from a 2.5in mandrel pipe and a 2.5in pressed bent pipe is negliable. It's all about the muffler choice.

I got rid of my redback muffler that came with the off the shelf cat back system and got a lukey ultraflow muffler fitted which has a 1/2inch offset from entry to exit. I noticed an increase in power especially when accelerating up steep hills (the Eton range near Mackay as an example). So yeah you have a choice.

cheers..

yeah i went to a few places and finally carline would let me test a few different mufflers. I just told the guy i wasn't happy with the redback system, he then said he could fit a generic off the shelf catback lukey system. But then i told him that those mufflers don't flow as good as other lukey straight through mufflers. He then agreed with me and offered to do a custom system for $120 less than the off the shelf system. Ended up choosing a really good ultraflow lukey muffler (2.5in entry/exit diameter with 1/2in offset between two ends) and new 2.5in pipe work.

Just keep haggling and they will do it. They only want to sell you a off the shelf catback system because they only take 15mins to fit and no brackets etc need to be fitted.

Cheers..

I thought it was just a canberra thing! Everywhere down here has quoted $365 - $400 for either brand..

Right Price in QLD were awesome, always the cheapest, and do a good job.

Luckily I'll be getting mine threw a mate's mate. just waiting to hear a price on a lukey sys.. but got other issues now!

Where abouts in sydney do you live? & what car?

I got a qoute from Hurstville mufflers today for a custom made sports exhaust. Was $265 with 2 year warantee for my Ef Xr6.. The only thing the tip is separate if you want one that is.
