My car has been changed to a 5 speed using the malwood pin adaptor on the normal auto pedal box. Its really hard to push the lever into 1st always and is quite notchy when changing gears. I have a SVO rip shift on it as well.

The cable has been checked as i thought it was stretching. A new one was installed and the same thing is still happening, every week it needs adjusting until theres hardly any screw thread left of the cable poking through the firewall!!

Any suggestions of what the problem could be? its been suggested that the clutch fork may be bent inside the bell housing. any help would be good because i need it fixed soon as the new cable near the end point of adjustment

My EF did the same s**t Andrew, it always went out of adjustment.

Check the firewall and make sure it's not split or flexing too much when you push the clutch in, check the hook that goes into the fork that the clutch cable hooks onto (Mine slowly bent itself straight).
Mine also split the parts at the pedal end where the cable hooks into.
Over time i replaced everything except the fork, it's all made out of s**t and prone to crack or break.

No s**t Tim? Those pins were supposed to be spot on!

My pedal box collapsed about 5 or 6 years ago, i took it out and re-welded and strengthened it, it's still going now.

For anyone fitting a whole pedal box, get the mig out and throw more into the weak spots.

THANKS WALKER. the clutch return spring is fine and the firewall is fine too. the pedal box isnt bent but the clutch pedal is SLIGHTLY bent. so how come the cable keeps pulling back? i understand if the fork is bent, but its like its keeps pulling the clutch unitl theres nothing left? shouldnt it stop a a certain point otherwise the cable will fall out of the firewall? LOL

Same s**t happens on the original boxes, the pin is fine, but the pedal box can't handle the pressure.

I'd have to actually see it Andrew.

The small bush on the end of the fork isn't flexing back when you push the clutch in?
Mine slowly did, till it bent itself back straight and the cable jumped off it... they're not expensive and pretty easy to change.
