EL should run a distributor and coil, not a coil pack, for some reason, ford, (in their infinate wisdom) went from coilpack on ef, to dizzy and coil on el, then back to coilpack on au. Having said that, if you are after an EL performance coil, any good aftermaket coil, (an MSD or similar) would hook straight up, but i spoke to Michael at IC&E Ignitions, and he didn't know of any performance coilpacks that would bolt straight into the ef-au setups.

in their wisdom they installed very crap cp's that kept having problems, so for reilabilities sake, they went the safe option and put the dissys back in

Just a thought but has anybody bought out an aftermarket coil pack for the ef that was more reliable?

My theory goes that if you can use an AU Ser I ECU in an EF, the electrical signals are the same. You might be up for a change of connectors, but if it fixes the problem who cares.

I am interested as I am in the process of acquiring an EF....

EB is slightly different - no coil pack. In fact many people think that if you move a factory coil off the engine to the bay you will reduce Heat and NVH affects, and they will last near forever as well.

EF... like I was asking... has anyone tried an AU unit?

I was answering the original question, that was for EL. Sory to mix up things, should have quoted.
