Ok guys i didnt know which area to put this in because i figure it could be an ECU or a Gearbox problem or who knows. ok so i managed to fix my car with severe limp home mode problems turned out to be a bad ECU. so i changed it and then ran beutifully, so i shift kitted it, no problems till now. i hadnt noticed till now that my auto wont go to 4th gear at around 60k's if in ECON mode, but if in sport mode it will, but wont use the torque converter lock up. Does this make any sense? then every now and again i have the dash board lose signal all together as in if the car is in the on position but not running. the odd thing is that the car doesnt do anything in response then the dash comes back on again. Thanks in advance :D

Pretty sure thats standard with the econ power thing. I know it never made any sense to me. But yeah both ef auto's I've owned did the same thing. Hold 3rd in econ (till speed 65-70), shift up to 4th in power at 60. Cluster issue... I got no idea.

i had the cluster issue once.
if its the one im thinking of:

i was driving along, and the cluster turned off, as if i had taken the key out of the ignitition, car was still fine, accelerator, brakes etc.

few seconds later it all clicked back on again as if i had put the key back in the ignition, then the needles jumped back up to the appropriate speed/rpm etc.

might be a BEM issue, cant remember if you smack your left knee into the panel to help it, or left hand on the dash? cant remember its either one of them i think

gearbox thing is fine. they all do that.

as for lights, not too sure. to extend on what sgt bourne said, the BEM lives just above your left knee. so slap there.

oh yeah, and to that effect i also found i picked up about 1l/100km by using power not econ.

i have a feeling that econ is actually for towing, as it locks the converter up.

lol i love the smaking thing, back in my sensless days i had aVR berlina and the fuel and coolant guages took a bit of tender loving care aka beat the sh*& out of the dash in the right spot for it to work first thing in the morning. well thanks for that guys just scared the crap out of me seeing that happen and the car still running. as for the auto the lock up helps fuel efficency on the freeway so i run sport mode in peak hour and econ mode on the freeway now :)
