everyone seems to think that the only reason you may loose coolant is a blown head gasket.
while this is a fairly likely candidate its not the only thing that they are prone for.

I agree, as I said very likely! However if the leak isn't obvious it becomes the prime suspect. Other leaks tend to leaves signs.

zxodus to check if you are loosing coolant out of the cap. Put a small coke bottle over the header tank overflow hose. Make sure you attach the bottle to something so it wont move. After a few drives see if any coolant is in the bottle. If so replace the cap.

if there is coolant in the small coke bottle that means the cap could still be working and its just building up to much pressure in the coolant system or theres to much water in there ya just sending this bloke on a wild goose chase so i reckon just take it to ya mechanic cuase ya keep driving it its ganna get worse and worse ==== more $$$$

No, under normal curcumstances the cap will not expel any coolant. However if the header tank is overfull then it will expel it down to the correct level. Again if the system is overpressuring due to combustion gases being present in the coolant then this would not be a normal situation.
Changing the cap is a cheap exercise, worth doing anyway. If the coke bottle still fill with coolant afterwards, then it is worth looking further. I have said this once before start with the simplist things first.

ive noticed i loose a little bit of coolant also however mine is definately not a blown head gasket :P
mine leaks down the side of the radiator endtank. may be worth pulling out your fans and looking for any white residue down the sides of the radiator.. or around the rad hoses etc..
coolant leaves a white stain when it evaporates normally pretty easy to see..

cheers
mitch

Another common leak source. Either a cracked radiator tank or a faulty tank seal. Can be fixed, however the cost is almost as much as a new radiator.
When I was quoted it was $110 to fix or $170 for new radiator.
