Me and my friends all have either an EF or an EL and we have all had a problem with the coolant, mostly broken or cracked pipes, is anyone else having the same sort of problems?

i know what you are talking about , you have to take into account the cars are coming up on 10 years old now so the usual wear and tear is to be expected , even if they are under 100k examples they are still old enough to have perished.

Guys i got an 1994 EX ute and my temp gauge is telling me its running very cold, like just below the normal box on the gauge, but when i leave it idoling for like 2 min after driving it, the gauge shows the temp as boiling.. then when u take off again and get some air flow under the bonet it goes back to really friggin cold.... it also keeps loosing coolant over nite(only about 200mls a week but still its annoying) aand theres no obvious leaks and it dun leak under pressur???
Its got me fukked for whats wrong with it :? , any advise???
Cheers :)

To what point are you toping your cooling system up to? If its overfull it will expel some out the overflow once the coolant is hot and has expanded.

If the engine runs cool whilst moving but overheats when stationary then check out that your fan is working properly.

XGCOWBOY - Replace the thermostat with a genuine Ford one. That sounds like what the problem is.

it sometimes gets to the point that the header tank is empty, but i always fill to the line only. yes its a lil bit ruff when u cold start, ill check the fan n get the thermostat replaced n see if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks guys, once i sort this prob out its time for some sports bars, nudge bar n a few lights on there, also looking at changing the dash light to blue, i see that looks really cool! wouldent mind some extractors n a exhause as well, but see how the funds are.

Thanx guys, ill keep u posted on how its goin!
Keep cruising!
