ok its spitting out these codes;

F - being a flash P - being a pause

F - 3 times
P - 3 secs
F - 3 times
P - 6secs
F - 3 times
P - 3 secs
F - 3 times
P - 6 secs

keeps doing that untill it just stays on, so is that code 33 and code 36?

not sure on these code things.. lol

not doubting you, but are you sure its not doing 1 - 1 - 1 pause 1 - 1 - 1, which means no faults....

if there's no fault, there's no reason for it to flash on startup of the car ;)

Hey guys I know this is an old thread but rather than start a new one I thought I'd just ask here...

My coolant light flashes when I start my car every morning, There is plenty of water/coolant in the bottle though, it will flash until I turn the ignition off no matter how far I go. But if I start the car (light flashing) then turn off the ignition then start the car again the coolant light stops flashing.

Any idea why this might be happening?

I first thought it might be the float as mentioned above but seeing that starting and stopping the car again stops the light flashing there might be something more electronic involved.

The car is an AU just for reference.

mostly likely the float has liquid in it.

To replace the float, drain/syphon the header tank, unplug sensor then unscrew the white plastic ring on the side of the tank, I use a pair of pointed nose pliers. Sensor just pulls out from tank. float can then be removed from sensor.

Here's a couple of pics for you, from when I did mine.

I'm also sorry to mine an old thread.

i am putting a high spec cluster into my GLi soon, so i need the whole sensor assembly.

I have found all the bits in madmax's picture on ebay for sale, but it looks like it doesnt have the white bit in the thread of the coolant bottle.

does anyone know where i can get that from? or do i need a whole bottle?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=018

thanks guys
