there are 6 cyl cortinas factory

the 250 X flow fits in nice and easy
heaps of room

u will need ecu wiring loom etc
as for engien mounts iirc the 250xflow and e series are teh same mounts?> i could be wrong

or u could rebuild the bottom of a x flow and put on e series head :)

it might be cheaper to drop a 302 in there. kits a available for conversion.

Don't know if the length of the crossflow & i6 are the same. if the EF is longer, then you gonna have to bud the block against the firewall so you'll have enough clearance in the front for you ancillaries & thermo.

if the btr auto is bigger, then you gonna have to mod the floor pan, that means cutting the drive-train channel in the middle & jig up the motor & auto in the position you would like it to fit.

But I could be wrong, The EF might be a perfect fit.

One of the TE weakness is the sub frame, brakes & suspension. they're not going to handle all the excitement.

yeah it's been done a few times

depends on what u call a big deal. it's not a weekend conversion. dont let anyone fool ya into thinking that anything on an I6 is the same as a crossflow. the differences may only be small but it's enough to be a pain in the a***.

a few things u'll need to modify/manufacture right from the word go:
sump/pickup
engine mounts
exhaust manifold/extractors
fuel lines
surge tank
fuel pump
tunnel
rear crossmember
heater box
and about 200 other things which are insignificant or i cant remember

about the only two things which are compatible are the cortina tailshaft goes into the back of a falcon transmission and is good enough to be the right length. and the other is a cortina speedo cable goes into the back of a falcon trans too.

go the 6 as they arent that common. if u want a v8 cortina then buy someone else's unfinished project. it's heaps cheaper and less mucking around. they are common enough that u can buy an "off the shelf" conversion kit for a v8.

any questions dont hesitate

i'd say do it no matter the friggin about, reliability, power to weight not to mention the fuel economy would all improve let alone doing a s/c'd or turbo'd engine aswell!. Go for it!
