ok, lent my car to my little brother last night (not a smart move).
anyway he comes home braging to me that he was showing off to a mate, and drifted it around a corner. says he slamed his foot down in second, the car kicked out 90deg, and the speedo shot up past 100kms...IN SECOND...WTF. just wondering how much damage the little punk could have done to my f***ing engine with that little outburst of 'testosterone'. also car is a 5spd manual.

there are plenty of us who give our cars s**t like that all the time and don't have any issues... i'd start worrying if anything new starts happening that didn't before hand |

Rev limiter should theoretically prevent too much damage from ocurring... having said this, my limiter kicks in @ 6200rpm but i doubt my engine would last too long if it kept it there (for longer than i have hehehe).
If something broke, you'd know about it... prob less likely in an OHC engine... great way to destroy pushrods and valvetrains in older motors tho

second gear in my car goes to about 96 before the limiter kicks in, thats with standard diff. As everyone else said, shouldnt hurt too much. just kick him in the balls.

what worries me is someone who is drifting out on a public road is actually looking at the speedo instead of full concerntration on the road and that making sure he doesn't hit anything (specially when in someone elses car)!
