Hi Just need some help with my problem.

The wifes ef wagon got towed home, as it has no spark. It does crank but doesnt create any spark to the plugs.

Now i have replaced the coil pak and still no spark. Rather costly well of finding out it wasnt the problem.

Can anyone point me in the right direction. What else could be causing it to have no spark.

Thanks for your help

the interior light is working just fine, so we can rule that one out then.

Sounds like a faulty crank angle sensor. Its the sensor thats triggered off the harmonic balancer.

i was talking to a commodore owner the other day think it was a vs, he was always breaking down with no spark. he poured a cup full of water over the sensor and it would run for another 15-20 mins. he was on his way to get another one.
asked a mechanic mate and he said it was a common fault in commodores.
wonder if this would make yours start??

Using the "shotgun approach" to diagnosing faults can be very expensive as you have found out. Get the car checked out professionally by someone with experience in this model and go straight to the source of the problem which from what you have described may be the ECU.

Well it looks like the car is going to be checked ny an auto elec as i am not going to replaced anymore pparts until i have where the problems is !!

As far as a "shotgun approach" to diagnosing the problem isnt that what we all to and i thought that is was just a way of elimanting the possible problems.

Thanks for all your help , will let you know what the problem was

You have 250 reasons why it is not a good idea. A quote from a book on Automotive electronics that I have goes something like this " One test is worth more than a thousand expert opinions".

Well everybody just what do let you know that the car is back on the road and running. :D

I ended up chasing up an auto elec and after 1 1/2 hours the problem was fixed. The most annoying thing was it was two $10 relays that were located underneath the header bottle that were rusted, didnt even know there were relay there.

Any how thanks for the help
