does the cruise control light come on in the dash pannel yes i would check the buttons and replace them if you have to, also undo the trailer socket and rewire it properly dont ever have any of the active wires spliced in to the earth because it could be whats the trouble and it may short out the flasher relay if it has a tow bar because im my ED Falcon the cruise light wouldn't come on at all when i set it and the res button didn't work as good as the others i undone the trailer socket put new wires in and a new socket wired it up properly and nothing touching at all and the cruise control and the cruise light started working better so check those things out or the whole cruise control could need to be replaced which is probably a mechanic's job or unless you know what you are doing also it could be the manual clutch wsitch for the cruise control

Assuming the cruise light comes on.. Does the deaccel button engage cruise? If so that would point to a dud accel button.
Check out the control cable going to the throttle body, is it still attached? does it move freely?
Are the vacaum hoses plugged into the cruise module? no holes in the hoses?
Check the wires going to the cruise module.
