Ok i have done the auto to manual conversion. The cruise still fine, the only thing i haven't hooked up is the clutch switch so when i depress the clutch, it doesn't disengage the cruise.

Also to whoever said that if you touch the accelerator it disengages the cruise, this is absolute s**t. Go on try it. Say set it at 60 km/h then touch your accelerator upto say 70 km/h, WITHOUT touching any of the cruise buttons, then take your foot off the accelerator. It will go back down to the set speed of 60km/h and resume as if it was always going at 60 km/h

also to the person who said it hold to the RPM and not speed. s**t. it holds to speed NOT to RPM. I have tested this many of times before. Go upto a gill on cruise control so that it struggles a little bit, it will increase the RPM to maintain the speed. Also you should take note of this last one, CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT SLOW YOU DOWN. I.e. you come upto a hill with a steep downslope, the car will not brake so it will continue to gather speed until u touch the brake

My aftermarket cruise control on my XF Wagon works well on it. Its a 5sp manual, depending on what I'm doing, I can clutch down a gear and cruise will stay on, if I gently brake as to not speed down a hill it will stay engaged, but if I brake hard it will disengage. Acelerator will accelerate and then eventually resume to previously set speed.

Thumbs up to cruise control 8-)

I always thought that cruise control worked of vacuum and something to do with throttle position sensors?

To test out the speed theory, set your cruise to say 80kph, then change down a gear and hit resume, see what it does. I really can't see the engine revving its tits off to hold a certain speed?

yes it will rev its tits off as u put it to try and get to that speed, Also if you look at a car with cruise control on it, in the engine bay, u will see 2 wires going across the rocker cover. 1 is the accelerator cable that goes to the pedal, the other is the cruise control accelerator cable which goes to the cruise control box. Dont beleive me? just trust me and check it out

Ah cool, I see it.

Whats the big black plastic looking box in the front corner of the engine bay do? It looks complicated with all those tubes 'n stuff coming out of it.

Does it really matter? It gives everyone something to read if they want to know how cruise control really works, rather than listening to someone ramble on a load of crap on here.

Maybe you would like to enlighten us as to the difference between American and Australian cruise control systems?

does anyone really use cruise that much?

i used to have an old mazda ith cruise, 5 speed manual.

she'd be in 5th gear cruise on all the time, it was brilliant! city, highway, i didnt care, nor did it!

note, mazda is jap, and it uses vacuum, most cars do (or did), its just cheaper

cc is steh same in manual as it is auto, just that you control the gear change.

p.s. has anyone noticed in an au if u put the car in N from D, cruise engaged, it just revs out! scary s**t!
