Hey i thought this might be a bit of fun I hope this is the right forum for it.
(Involves a bit of imagination lol) :P

You have a 95 EF Fairmont Ghia,

- stock as a rock
- factory color of your choice
- 190,000k's on the clock

The important part, You only have 5 Grand Spending money $$$

ok this will either be a blow out of a thread or might be fun i dont know lol
:?

(and this is partly because I will be buying my first car soon, hopefully EF Ghia n will have around 2-3 grand to start modding

nice ones

both cool, i think SgtBourne used the best format to discribe his with the price and then how much was left but suit yourselves.

Yeah its funny how quick u can blow 5 grand on ur car so easily, it really is nothing, and i will probs have less than that... who knows, when i start working the mods will come with the paychecks ahaha, leaving room for fuel, and piss

but also just from mine and paul's replies the choices are endless.

depends what kind of person you are,you might decide to wack $4,980 on a stereo and $20 on a milo tin, can of spray paint and gaf tape to attach it to the end of your car.

you might blow the entire 5K on an engine re-build or an AU engine.

just up to you in the end really

that's over $5000...I think that wasn't part of the plan :P

I'd go with what SgtBourne said. Above average performance, great handling and better braking. With potential for future mods.

If it's not manual, I'd get a stally instead. If it already has a stally, I'd get a cam...but then again you can do both I believe for about $600.

phong =P~

i dont understand the deal here?

you say you have 5g to spend, but then at the bottom you say you will have only 2-3g?

So assuming you mean your gonna pay 3g for the car, then spend 2g on it..

4.11 lsd diff........... ..........1300
extractors and exhaust..... 1000

this is easy:

cat back exhaust (gotta sound good) ~$300
whiteline works kit ~$1700 fitted with camber kits
($3000 left)
stereo ~$1000-$1500 (will get you a decent sound system with mp3 head unit a sub and maybe some splits. NB: i'd do splits before sub, but i like SQ not SPL)
($2000-$1500 left)
manual ~$500 - $1500 (depends on if you are happy to wait for a bargain to pop up, if you can put it in yourself and so on)
($1500 - $0 left)

If still money: slotted discs and good pads, extractors, cam, wheels. in that order.

I've done everything on my priced list except for manual. i still keep hope that i'll pull my finger out one day and do it!

Do you want interior mods, exterior or go faster mods?

My mods would go something like;
AU engine modded for ef - 850 delivered from ebay - $1000 gone
extractors, exhaust - $5-700 if you shop around, cheaper if you go 2nd hand.
Cam + intake - about 500

Superlow king springs - 200 from ebay
Tinted windows - 300

thats about $2500 worth.

if you've got another 2500 to spend then you can add;
stereo $1500

if its a ghia you probably already have a lsd, so that saves a few bucks, but it'd be auto, so i'd throw every spare cent I had at converting it to manual. autos blow.

Yes When i buy my car, get insurance and rego paid if it doesnt have rego... then I am hoping to have 2-3 grand left im my bank account...

But as I will have finishe school (few months after) Im going to work more and earn money and its going straight on my car.

So in the immediate short term after buying my car im looking at modding as soon as possible with a limited budget. just trying to get a picture of how much i will be able to do with the money, u know what i mean? meh....

BTW, my internet is dodgey, and wireless, and any mother f**k can connect in my street and some faggit must be using all my usage cos its slow as f**k!!!!!!!!!!!!

what i want, like as soon as i get the car

is to lower it, gotta look mean, dont want to be sitting on a throne lol

and put exhuast on, have to sound good too...

I want performance mainly, looks are also important, thus lowering..
I want everything, sound system, custom dash, proably get some Calrton Football CLub seat covers hahaha, and yeah manual conversion one day...

But here ill give use the facts...

Mum says she will chip in 2000, I have 2000 in my bank NOW. will save another 1500-2000 (doing year 12 atm) before my b-day 31.08
My Pa will also chip in hopefully anywhere from 1500-2000 if im lucky  to cut the bull i am looking at having a new worth towards my car of...

8000 MAXIMUM

So.... Hopefully get the best cheapest 95 EF Ghia i can find, i gotta know its the right one but... its gonna be my baby lol

but out of that 8,000 i dont know how im going to pay insurance... but anyways i will sort something out, take a loan or donno pull something off, and at the end of the day i have a gut feeling i will have 2-3 grand in the bank....

im gonna work part time over the summer and probs start n apprentaship early in 09.

There i will be able to get some cash and its goin on my car u can bet

lol theres my life story anyways

continue.....

1) dont get a loan, looks like your folks are willing to help you, dont abuse that. if you get a loan you could end up in deeeeeeep s**t.

2) dont rush it. whilst im not exactly great with money, dont think that "oh i have $500 pay this week, whats that? set of new pacemaker extractors are $500? here you go!!" you have plenty of time to do mods

also, if you need help securing your wireless network you can pm me
