Now, i know its been done to death, but need i say the saearch prob.

Now, while doing my head work this week i started modding my cat to suit my pacies, and it fell apart, so i am in the market. I can get a universal 2.5" cat for 150, but its just a cat. There is also the ebay "high flow" cats, and even just the normal ebay cats.

The car it will be going on when back together will be making most likely around 160 rwkw. So i have a few questions.

1 - Are these ebay "high flow" cats worth there weight in water, or full of s**t?

2 - Will these actually out flow a normal 2.5" cat like the one i can get at local exhaust shop for $10 less?

3 - What about fitting a second hand BA XR6 cat from a wreck? better than ebay cat?

Cheers lads

Andrew.

most people will tell you a stock cat will suffice. Others will tell you mating a 3" cat onto a 2.5" exhaust is what you should do as it creates more area for the gases to flow

i cant comment if a stock cat is good enough, as ive been running some sort of "high flow" cat since i had my exhaust done years ago.... and its still holding up fine

Apparently the ef/el cats flow nicely.

Regardless of the flow, You'll end up buying a hi-flow cat anyway if you need it or not.
Then you'll figure out there's no difference at all, and if there is...its all in your head.

I figure, if your replacing the exhaust and or installing extractors, you may as well renew the cat whilst your at it.

Yeah thats the only reason i'm replacing it, because of it falling apart. I guess i'll just go the 2.5" ceramic from this exhaust shop. I dont reckon the difference would be enough to justify the cost, its not like its going on a turbo or anything.
