well i went and checked the fuses all of them are fine, interior light works, smart lock light turns off before I turn it over...

So its a problem with the TFI or Dizzy far as I can tell
Or the coil..

Anyone know any Mechanics around St kilda i can call out or one with a tow truck>?

how would a coil control injection?

the distributor controls both. if it cant tell the ecu what position the engine is it wont spark nor inject. i'd almost bet my left nut that it's your distributor. you can also buy them new complete for about $150. u got labour etc on top of that. i wouldnt go to the trouble to remove the distributor to only replace the tfi module. it's easy to test, plug a noid light into the plug on the coil - if it flashes when u crank then the distributor is fine

also fyi; the hall sensor or hall effect sensor is inside the distributor and runs on magnetism, not infra-red. the "hall effect" is running one magnet past another to create a sine wave or switch.

either way shouldnt be too difficult for the blokes fixing it

well it turns out it was the distributor AND the coil, it took the guys all day to try and work it out but they had to call in an auto electrician to figure it out, The pickup in the distributor was broken plus the coil wasn't sending enough spark, HOW THE HELL did they both bugger up at the same time... I don't know..

But it was $280 for a new Dizzy, $35 for new coil plus labour and Diagnosis... a $500 problem all up for me.. That really sucks

Hmm, if the computer has been reset will the relearning phase cause the engine to have a wobble kind of vibration between about 900 - 1000 rpm...
Feels as if the crank is unbalanced or something. Unless the Transmission is playing up too...

Dunno if it's just the car not gettin the Air fuel mixture right and missing a few sparks every now and then.. but only between a range of like 100 - 200 rpm
