The mount points for the brackets do exist, but they need to be drilled and tapped. Thats all I did with mine. I think the holes for the coil packs also existed, for EF anyways. Been a while since the build.

Rods are not the same from EA to EL, they are the same length though.

Thanks ticky6. I was hoping you would add something. What are differences in rods and gudgeon pins between the models? Weight differences?

Brad's done some good writeups on the SOHC's - and the hybrids too.
Why don't you search for them and have a read, also Stockstandards writeup on the SOHC's.

There's plenty of info, and it's not too hard to find.

I was chatting with a guy on FB and he tells me that the XR6 blocks are different to std 4.0l blocks, they are distinguished buy X's on them, he tried to put an XR6 crank into a STD block and it wouldn't fit can any one confirm? or is he just full of s**t?

I just went and checked out 4 motors I have here, out of cars, in my rack, all standard engines, three of the engines have 93DA part number and all three have and X on the block, the fourth one, part number 91DA does not have the X on the block.

conclusion: guy = tosser

i checke the other day, but cant remember if it was a 93da or 94da block. it was one of them tho.
