I might be wrong, but of the top of my head -
3.08 for auto gli
3.23 for manual GLi's
3.23 for fairmonts, futuras, and XR8's
3.45 for XR6

Correct! Give this man an elephant stamp!

I was actually quite surprised to learn that the EB 6's had a 3.23, which was changed to a 3.08 in the ED in the name of fuel economy...

Hey i work on a lot of falcons and have found that the ratios vary a lot between the models. i have an el fairmont and i got it with a 3.23 single spinner. i plan on changing to a 3.45 XR8 LSD eventually. i was just wondering if anyone else has found that they have different gears from the standard 3.08 diffs?

Ay if your gonna run with 18'' wheels you'd be better of with even shorter ratio than 3.45 coz of your distance travelled per wheel rotation. If you run 3.45 diff with 18'' wheels its a similar ratio to 15'' wheels runnin 3.08 diff. your losin out on take off coz of your wheel diameter.

whatever!! if you get the correct ratio tyre then overall diameter should be roughly the same. stock 15in rims generally run a 205/65. on 17's most run a 235/45. 18's would probably run a 40 or 35 series depending on what width you run.

for those who don't know what the numbers actually mean, the first and larger number is the width in mm. the second and smaller number is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width (aspect ratio) e.g. 235/45 has a sidewall approximately 45% of 235mm = roughly 105mm

even though you don't have the short first gear you would still hate driving it unless it was an auto.
i wouldn't recommend it, but it's up to you.
