I changed the motor in my brother-in-law's el with an el hybrid motor. I think they have an AU head and was wondering if it has an AU gasket or the ever reliable e series one?

No they dont. Same old s**t e-series gasket.

Unless some really really last super hybrids are out there that did get the AU gasket, but no one I know or have seen has ever mentioned it.

I think the first of the AU's had the s**t old E series gasket. At some point later in life they changed to the MLS one, which also changed the compression ratio.

I stand corrected. The one I saw mush have had the asket done. had enough s**t on the motor to suggest it was original.

Ever seen a AU motor with the old gasket? There was a S1 that copped a hit in the front out at the wreckers, and something punched a hole in the block so they removed the head - and there was the E series composite gasket in all its glory. I WTFBBQ'd hard.

If you buy an EL vrs kit tou get a composite gasket, what do tou get if you buy an AU one, or do you have to specify what series you need.

You can just get the MLS gasket from Ford, though you could probably get the whole gasket kit from them as the manifold and rocker gaskets are the same.
I know the AUs have smaller dia. valve stem seals than E series, dont know about the hybrid motors though - they probably got the smaller ones if you believe what some old mechanic tells me.

Mine certainly came with the e-series gasket.
