Hey all,

I bought my EF approx 1.5 years ago with 216,000km on the clock.

It's now done 236,000 and I haven't had the injectors cleaned since I've had it.

When I bought it, it was a stock std EF, and I've done practically everything but change the cam & the diff (see list of mods).

It was running pretty sweet before the mods, but I'm now noticing the following:

1. Engine can be hard to start on hot days (cool days or night-time no probs!)

2. Engine idles rough (excessive vibration) when AC on (when thermo fans kick in, revs about 600-650 with AC)

3. Engine seems to be skipping or missing, with a little vibration when viewed with bonnet up.

So ...DO I NEED MY INJECTORS CLEANING?????

Or could it be that I've screwed up the balance & running of my stock I6 a little with my mods? Maybe just a good service & tune?

Any verdicts most welcome!!!!

Do a compression check...
At those klrs YES get them cleaned or buy some good low klr second hand ones...But it would still pay to get them checked also..If you take them out yourself it should cost around $100.00
I assume sparl plug, leads, rotor and cap are good condition? Along with fuel , air filter...

Thanks mate,

Might have to go the whole hog, I think:

Injector clean & new fuel filter
New plugs & leads (haven't been changed as far as I know)

As for rotor & cap ...don't think the EF's have 'em (thought it was some sort of coil set-up? ...but I could be wrong!)

Thanks for your advice, and ...nice wheels! (Is that Turbo & intercooler?)

Yes get the injectors cleaned. However, remove them from the car yourself and take them to a workshop that cleans them offline, for around $20ea. IMO these on-car injector cleaning systems are s**t.

Sorry to bring this back up, I had the same problem, over the weekend I replaced plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor. Now after that still had the issue to I had a few things left to do, I had a spare Fuel Pressure Regulator, after busting one fuel rail I put another on with the new regulator and now all is well again, replace the regulator!
