Which is the positive power wire for the thermo fans on my EF I6?
Actually better check first, do the thermo fans still run on it after the ignition is turned off? Reason for asking is my new alarm sensors battery voltage drop, and needs to be hooked to the thermo fan positive power so it know when it's the thermo fans causing the voltage drop and when it's something else. that takes effort. also not much use since the cars not running at the momemnt, so i can't exactly run it to get hot enough hey? and you sure about the red wire? that'd be very rare, ford usually use a wide range of colours wiht different coloured spots and stripes and crap on them for positive wires, not just red... |

well its proberly for the fan resistor maybe. id say the ecu doesnt send down a straight voltage but rather a frequencey voltage to regulate the fan speed. maybe not but alot of cars do it that way.

So does anyone know if the thermo fans actually run for a while after the car switchs off? Or do they shut off with the ignition?

id say they would coz thermos kick in at a specified temp and if you cain the s**t out the car and turn it off the coolent temp will still be relativly hot causing the fans too come on

im pretty sure they turn off, some later model cars may do, ive never heard my thermos continuing to run

Old bluebirds and other jap cars had electric fans that ran on after shut down.

They shut down with ignition, mine have never run when the engine is off, even though there has been times it has definatley been hot enough for them too..

mine have kept running after long distance driving. car switched off, key out and doors locked, the fan will keep going until the engine has dropped temp. same with my oldies commodore, it does the same thing after a highway run.

Ive got EL twin thermos on my clevo and they only run with the ignition on.
