Hi, there. My '96 EF Fairmont has started idling unevenly. It idles around 700rpm then suddenly drops to about 300 now and then, sometimes switching off. This usually happens just after startup. To add to this she has switshed off about 3 times in the past two weeks, as I come to a stop.
Any clues??

I had that problem well it didnt actually shut down but the revs would drop substantially and then back up again there are a few things it could be..... I got a new coil pack, lead set and spark plugs and that seemed to make the problem go away for a few weeks then it came back.
I have been told that its probably the ECU I just couldnt be a*** getting it diagnosed.
I was quoted $95 for one from my local wreckers

If anyone else has any information regarding this problem (ive heard quite alot of falcons have this problem) please shed some light...

Cheers

This would have to be THE most commonly discussed problem with the I6 falcon...

So have a search around the I6 forum as you're just gonna get the same suggestions... time after time after time....

If you mean disconnecting battery, idle in N, a/c off, a/c on, etc. I'm gonna give it a shot now.

Thanks

Yeah that's one of them... also checking leads/ignition/fuel filter, cleaning ISC/throttle body etc.

It's all in here somewhere so have a poke around.

BTW welcome to the forums.
