hey guys im wondering if the barra 182 and barra 240t have the same block i plan to build a awesome street car/drag car would there be alot of machining involved to get a xr6t crank and rods pistons in

i dont think so... correct me if im wrong anyone, but im pretty sure the 240t just has more stronger internals and the drivelines and that are different as well?

the engine block is the same....
the main difference would be in pistons and rods

+1 Cant see ford doing two seperate castings of the same engine concurrently in this economic climate, they would have ran with the beefier one across the board, or heres a bombshell, they would have designed the motor with those sort of applications in mind to begin with.

i thought the ba xr6 and xr6T got all the same internals and crap. just a hair dryer hangin off the side for the turbo model.
but the bf xr6 got the f6 internals.

is the cylinder head the same aswell do they run diffrent valves and valvesprings

To convert a standard motor to a turbo would reequires engineers yep.
But if he fitted a factory turbo motor to a XR6 it would be classed as a owner certified onversion and no engineers required , just a change of RTA records.
But if he put a factory turbo motor into for example a Fairmont it would require an engineers as that combination was not a factory option.......................

in ba and the first bf the xr6 turbo and xr6 were the smae block and rods and pistons in bf mk2 they got the f6 bit's wich is just rods and crank out of a falcon e gas motor don't belive me check the part numbers

It's a little more complicated then that, But yes the E-gas was the birth place of the stronger rods.

Turbo motors and na motors have never shared the same pistons.

A quick google will tell you the other differences. So much bs in this thread.
