could you run a piggy back style ecu to control the functions that the factory unit doesn't allow for?

The BA throttle body does have a TPS. It uses it as a reference to confirm the position of the electronic throttle movements.

I don't know what effect there would be if you allowed for a manual adjustment of the throttle, while still sending the TPS Signal back to the PCM.

I think it would only matter if the load/map choice was tied to the throttle input. I would have thought that from a logic point of view, the movement of the electronic throttle would be decided as a RESULT of the other movement, not CAUSE the selection of the fuel/ignition maps.

I hope that makes some sense.

I doubt the BA/F ECU could function with the TPS being the only load source.

Spoke with Atomic Performance today, looks like verniers will be the go. They also mentioned people have had problems with the cam phasing when running stronger valve springs.

So just need to figure out what signals the standard EF ecu needs to keep the dash running,

crank trigger for tacho, anyone know what sort of crank trigger the DOHC uses?

For the dash, I am figuring I will need oil pressure and water temp which run on the DATA LINE, and tacho signal will need to be signal converted.

My plan is to let my EL ECU believe it is still functioning, much like it does when on LPG.

In my case however, I will be using the BA PCM to run the DOHC.

It is good to have some collaboration in these things.

Cheers
BenJ

BA and EF share the same crank trigger.

sorry to hijack this thread. I reading this forum with interest.i have been thinking along the same lines.currently running a au engine in a xf ute with ef wiring ecu.i`m also running lpg vapour injection.since my headgasket is leaking oil at the timing case so i`ve been thinkin to drop a dohc engine in.so it would be possible to use the ba crank sensor.what about the cam sensor.could i use one of the ba sensors.i know now i can replace the vct actuators with verniers.will the ef inlet manifold fit the dohc?thanks

you running EMS Coil Ignitors ?
Not sure if you need it with the BA coils, but i am pretty sure the EMS ignitors have the tacho signal output wire on it.

nope the ems igniters dont have the tach outputs anymore, i dont know why? but it sucks..
now the tach gets read from one of the ecu outputs..

First draft for a plenum to suit the ITB's:

bottom inlet is not to scale and will be the same as the feed from the IC, also have not decided on what to do with the ends yet, I'm thinking domed though.

As I don't need to leave room for the TB the air feed from the IC can come into the plenum from underneath half way along.
