My EF did the same in hot wheather.
I took the door trims off and sprayed silicon spray on every moving part.
Did the window guides at the same time.
This was 2 years ago, no problems since.

Our EB used to do that... I just held the key in the lock at the "locking" position for a while and then let go. It wold eventually sort itself out. But as MadMatt said, try lubricating the lock rods and check the sniper button is not jamming on one of the doors....

if the knobs wont stay down when locked, if u take the door lock knobs off , sit in the car with the doors shut, then press lock on the dash switch. if the rods stay down without going up down up and down u can refit the knobs. make sure the rod is down (locked position) when refitting them.

quik ed, i would be checking the lock motors for a slow one or one not working at all. sounds like one is seized. the demister thing u spoke about is to reprogram a new remote and the smartlock module part u are thinking of replacing sounds like it is working as it will unlock but not stay unlocked

I have had issues with my door locks going crazy, and i ended up having to unplug the passenger side locks for the central locking to work properly on the drivers side.

Front passenger door solenoid is working up & down as it should, but rear one, the solenoid operates & the rods don't move. They are not jammed up, can be moved very easily by hand. If either or both passenger side solenoids are plugged in, the car will not lock, just constantly cycle. I will fix them one day when i get the time. Until then i unplugged them & lock them manually. Annoying but it works.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

My Ford Falcon AU 2 Ute was doing exactly the same. I just fixed it now. I pulled the actuator out (drivers side door) and inspected it fiddle around with it and eventually discovered the spring that holds the door opening handle mechanism all the way up had broken and the small section of that spring had broken off had found its way out of the slot. It is this interruption of the locking mechanism that caused the constant lock-unlock cycling that my ute was experiencing. I managed to work the broken off part of the spring back into where it is supposed to be and VOILA! It's as good as new. Another way to fix the problem would be to attach one end of a tension spring to the door opening mechanism and the other end to somewhere inside the door. This should stop the door opening mechanism dropping under its own weight and interrupting the door locking mechanism. To check that I have described is the issue with your vehicle before pulling the door completely apart, take off the door trim and try gently lifting the door opening mechanism while it is cycling and see what happens. I hope this helps someone with the same problem.
Regards, Ross.
