wouldnt mine seeing some pictures, but i think the sump cut is the better option, then trying to put the ef sump on the au block as well as the timing cover, if you were going to go to all that trouble you mght as well just get a another ef engine to shove in

So you know all those bolts that go thru the side of the AU sump yeh? Theyre now kind of doing nothing  Sorta defeats the purpose of an AU motor dont you think?

Part of the structural integrity of the motor.... they go into the main bearing caps.

Son milkshaked his El and we had a spare AU engine that had been sitting there for 2 years that I had scabbed bits off over that time... Had little funds to get another motor so just threw the AU motor in for as little cost as we could.... Didnt really know what the AU motor was like so just took a chance.....

Cut K frame, weld in some 4mm steel plates, done. I knew you could swap sumps if you swap covers, but its pointless.

I had done another AU into EL this way before but I didnt do the sump transfer as it had already been done... had been in the car by a previous owner for 12 months and son managed to kill it in another 12 months..... He was giving it a fair bit (was 18) what can I say......

but it wasnt through throwing a rod.... a welsh plug let go, and as he was only doing short trips didnt take notice of the temp gauge til the motor seized......

Well what would you suggest to the op of this thread, which is the best way of doing it, doing the sump mod / k frame cut or fiting the ef/el sump and timing case on

IF you go through a few motors... I would do the K-Frame cut....

otherwise its a line ball call......
