The starter motor has to be somewhere near the engine gearbox junction as it is used to turn the ring gear that connects to the crank.

On EF I6 it is on the passenger side of the car under the intake manifold. I expect that it would be in the same place on EB.

Cheers.

Starter motor on all 'E' series I6's is under the intake manifold at the rear of the motor. It is easier to get to it from underneath.

best way to get at it is from under the car but undo tranny mounts and gear stick and tilt the engine down a little bit enough to get at the bolts of the starter motor.
