Installed new BCM and also door lock actuator to be safe but still playing up when it feels like it... had new keys cut and coded and still no good.. auto elec can't pin point cause it's an intermitten fault.. spent 500 already and don't want to go to ford.. now i'm scared to go to the servo and fill up cause it may not start... any ideas on how to fix (or bypass altogether).. cheers

If you have a heap of keys on your key ring or a heavy keyring, this will cause excessive wear to the barrel and wear it out, however a 17 year old key barrel is likely to already be heavily worn, I also suggest replacing the ignition barrel. If you have ruled out pretty much everything else as you have, this is pretty much the last thing to change.

not the physical barel i'd be worried about - what i'm thinking is the receiver head in the barrell is playing up - thus allowing the car to start/not start.
