This maybe a stupid question but I have a 1636 Wade cam in my ef and it's running like a pig and I wanna swap back.

I have no idea at all but would it be worth swapping instead back to my standard cam, could I put a tickford one in? Would there be much gain over the standard?
And while I'm on the topic I have an opportunity to get an au xr6 vct cam, is there a way or possibility that this would fit in an ef fairmont??
I'm really dumb wen it comes to s**t like this..
Thanks

How is it running like a pig? bogging down? now powah? Miss firing?

The 1636 is supposed to go well with a standard auto 4.0L six. So either someone has installed it wrong or something else might have been broken along the way. Also is it a regrind camshaft or a billet? If it is a regrind, were shims added to the rocker arms?

Assuming the camshaft was installed properly and the car is bogging down/miss firing, I'd say a coil has died or something as simple as a lead has been broken during the process. I remember changing my camshaft over to an XR one and it would bog down/miss fire while taking off. Turned out when my mate pulled the leads off, he yanked them from the cable and not the boot, breaking 3 of the leads. Got new ones put in and it ran perfectly fine.

Are you doing this camshaft change yourself or is a professional doing it? If it is the former, then change the cam over yourself and see if it makes any difference. If a pro is doing, then I think it is a waste of money and try to find another cause of the problem.

Regarding AU XR6 VCT cam...don't bother. You would need more than just the cam for it to function.

Yeah ive got a wade 1636 regrind in at the moment I did the swap over myself with the extra shims and that made sure they went in the correct way and everything. Ever since I swapped it over it's been reving between 650rpm and 900rpm even wen I'm sitting in park, drive or reverse!! :s

I've been driving it for 2 weeks and the ecu should have learnt it by now yeah?

Cheers

Should be fine...reset the ecu by removing the battery if you haven't done so. But I doubt that would solve anything. So the idle is hunting? maybe you have a vacuum leak some where.

you email jase with a description of your car, he tunes the chip, sends it out to you and you install yourself. not too hard, instructions are on his site. you can also take it to one of the tuners to fine tune it afterwards. and yeah its tiperformance.com email him the description first, either through his email, facebook or through here in the tuning thread

Would it be worth getting a chip if i only have full exhaust, or should i wait until other mods, e.g cam, cold air intake ect..

You can get a chip with say the xr6 tune on it, and when you get more mods send it back and get it re tuned, but is it worth it at that stage, mostly not.
