Hey guys i have a ea station wagon 3.9 cpi car starts fine but when drivibg or givibg quick jab on the throttle it back fires through the carby looking part and when drivibg if i back off the throttle abit it starts picking up quicker than full throttle any one know wats going on was wrose when i first got but been running 98 octane fule and thats cleared it up a hell of a lot but still pops

Hi,

Leads or timing ? Check the spark plugs also.

checked the plugs yesterday the were 50 50 cleaned them made little diffrence..... how would you do timing in these?????

Do you have a timing light?
If you are game you can try without one.
With the car running slightly loosen the 13mm retainer on the dizzy and turn it ever so slightly anticlockwise. Just a tiny bit, listen for a slight rev change and stop there and go for a test run.
But at the end of the day the thing could be 20 degrees out and you will struggle to get it right without a gun or a keen ear.

I havnt done much with the CPI falcons, do they have a vacuum for fuel advance
