Just got given an immaculate xe ute, however it has the 3.3lt and i wanna use it for towing? I did a quick search and found nothing... how hard is the wiring side of things when attempting this kinda swap? im assuming the engines would bolt straight up? Im also intending on using a manual?

There is a sticky at the top of this forum with one way to do it (with pictures)

In short, the engine will not bolt up to a 3.3/4.1 bellhousing. You will need to use a T5 manual (e-series) or get a EA 3 speed bellhousing and then you can use any of the 3 speed autos. 4 speed autos are difficult to physically fit. The easiest way to get it going is to go carby and swap the dizzy so you dont need efi.

thanks, didnt notice that thread lol... however i guess my question is more related to wiring up the original efi that came with the engine... if i bought an engine, manual box and the loom from a wreckers, whats involved in getting the engine to run? i dont care bout the speedo, and other guages for the meantime, just getting it to run?

If you wanna use it for towing, I`d just drop a 250 in with a good cam and diff and run it on gas. cheaper and easier than going to 4.0 motor.

If you did do it though, it aint hard to wire it up, just use the whole loom from an EA/B and feed it around to where it`s gotta go, I`d go gas though meself...

May i suggest get the EB engine and looms and get a XG dash and then it would all go into place.... put the 3 speed auto in and would be pretty good...
