its ment to have some play in it, so you can tie it down nealty to the loom.

CPI and MPI alternater cables are the same. The reason why the EA cable had a different part no. is becuase the battery is mounted different in EA's.

Accelerator Cable for a MPFI 3.9 EB so a little bit of play is normal any way was reading that replacing the cable and if there is a alot of play the pedal is bent so i might double check it and then bend the pedeal up a bit.

check with ford spare parts and make sure its the right one for the car. There are 3 or 4 different cables depending on MPI/CFI/Series
they're colour coded too (the spring and plastic near the spring)

i think green comes to mind as well... u might have an XG/XH one or something... its only a phone call to check, saves bending the pedal for nothing

theres an adjustment on them to change the slack. its either around where it connects to the throttle body or around the middle somewhere.

theres an adjustment on those to change the slack. by memory its around the middle of the cable or at the throttle body end.

i could be wrong but i would've thought cfi and mpfi cables are different as the cfi only has to cross the rocker cover and the mpfi has to go right down to the lhf of the engine bay.
