For the price of a gasket I'd replace it.
So did the mechanics do all this work or did you?

eb s1 also has independent control unit for the btr auto on the left side of the pedal box which can also be a headache for manual conversions.

i did all the work ive worked around cars all my life and had to give up mechanics full time 2 years ago because of a crook back. as for manual conversion being a pain it is much simpilar to convert it to manual rather then convert to a later model auto. anyway the exu im going to use is a full stand alone im not going to piggyback. eliminate the dizzy setup and go for full coil on plug system, probably use the dizzy housing as my trigger though see what happens and how much of a headache it's going to be.

the headache will be changing over to the aftermaket ecu without fixing the current issue with the car..
if its running like s**t on the factory ecu, you will more than likely have even more issues getting it running right on the aftermarket ecu...

I reckon it will be the ignition coil or the TFI module, they have a tendacy to play up only when the car is warm quite often.

coil pack and tfi has been swapped out and no noticeable difference was found, mabe i should just throw the motor in the bin and just convert to a v8 or just leave the car and sell it for the next poor bugger to sort out

found what may be the cause, i ran into the previous owner and asked him if he had trouble with it turns out it was on gas when he got it but he changed it back to fuel i wouldnt mind betting the ecu has never been changed back, which also explains the next questing of why there is brackets and holes in the boot.

yeah well wouldnt it fix your problem fitting the ea ecu if the ecu hasent been changed back from gas?
i dont think your looking hard enough for this problem, or your car needs a long drive off a short plank into a deep ocean
