It is a resistor. 3 cents at your local electronics shop. Used (i belive, someone correct me if i am wrong) to fool the ecu that the engine is colder than it is so more fuel is injected.

thats exactly what it does... it just makes your car run too rich using more fuel than it needs and not really making any more power..

Surely that couldn't be too good for your engine in the long run. Correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't your engine build up with more carbon than usual running rich all the time?

So wat exactly do u do with the resistor? and correct me if im wrong, shouldn't u at least get a tiny bit more peformance if its running more air and fuel? Sorry if its a stupid question, remember only first year apprentice still...

You plug the resistor in2 your IAT sensor and it fools the sensor in2 thinking its CONSTANTLY!!! 12degrees, not a good thing if its about 40deg or if its 0deg coz theres too much variance basically your car is always runnin cold! Made my EA very lumpy and jerky at 1500rpm or 80kmh so I got rid of it.

If you can get more air and fuel into an engine you will get more power, but you have to wonder how a resistor on a sensor gets more air into an engine.

The idea behind these things does actually work (its how unichips and other interceptors retune engines) which is why so many people get fooled.

the sensor would be able to cause the engine to run like a cold start and therefore sending more air and fuel through the engin which then equals more power. im realy confused on how this wouldnt make some change for better or for worse for different cars in different conditions...

Send more fuel in - yes, just open the injectors a little longer

Send more air in - How? The only way the ECU can change the air is via the TPS and thats going to make 0 difference under throttle.

You cant change the air going in, so the only way to increase power is by injecting less fuel to lean it out or by advancing the timing. Putting into warmup mode will reduce power and fuel economy.
