i was told it will cost $350 to install a new fuel pump into my car.
i was sure this sounded too much, so i did a search for ford fule pumps on ebay. turns out a brand new genuine ford part will cost $130 including shipping, nd i dont think its $220 worth of work to put it in. what do you guys think? |

Hahahaha, rip off merchants, do it yourself, easy enough, tell em to jam it. It all pulls out of the boot area.

Takes about 30mins to do it right, I've got about 30000 working fuel pumps laying around here ... I sound right a doco on how to do it ..
Might even do that tommorrow ... sicne I've got to replace one tommorrow too .. pics and all 
stay tuned . Just open that black cap in your boot, 4 or 8 screws, i forget, have not done one for about 6mths, and it sits under there ... just make sure you put the hoses back on the way they came off . In the service manual, it says to drop the fuel tank, but you don't need do to that . |

on this note if anyone wants to replace an EF sedan fuel pump, i have got made up a tool to remove the retaining cap when i had to replace mine. if ya wanna borrow it, give us a yell

um very hard to describe in great detail but it looks like and upside down U. Ithe holes cut out in the ends to fit the plastic teeth on the cap and it has (i think from memory and basically i cant be f**k going out to look at it) a 13MM bolt on the top of it to get that extra leverage like what i had to do.
P.S. damn they jam shut after around 200,000 kms of travel

Yep even I got ripped cost me $220 and the stupid idiot didn't replace the seal! I filled my tank reversed park up my steep driveway and what do you know, bloody fuel leaking as fast as you could pump it in. My advice do it yourself that way you only have one person to blame.
I saw the guy using two screwdrivers and then another to leaver it open. Use you imaginiation i don't know how to describe it. Hope ya have fun. Ben |

yeah tried doing it that way and broke around 6 of the teeth off

Yeah, that happened about the first time I did it! ... but if your very careful with the screw drivers, and use a rubber mallet, You should not break any teeth. |
