hey guys, just curious to know what the switch acturly does, other than giving the car more responce,

does it tell the computer to retard the timming and make the shifts a little smoother? cause in power mod by gearbox changes gears quiet firmly

firms up the shifts, holds the gear changes a little into the rpm longer if you put your foot down. and turns a little light on the dash board :)

haha, i hardly put the foot down and it still goes right up to 4500 before it changes,l when my mate harley was driving he tried dragging a rodeo in econ mode and lost but as soon as he switched to power the car chanegd it's driving,

also anyone with an xr6 or ghia noticed around 1900 it starts to pull just that little bit harder?

my car does that, all my e series have done it, right on the 1900 mark they just roar and take off, well as much as youd expect a standard car to anyway

i actually only really took notice to it the past few days in my 5 speed, and thought, jeez thats 3 cars that have done that now, and i was going to ask the same question, i was thinking is my bbm switching earlier? or something similar, with extractors and a bit of ignition advance it really stands out, you hear it almost like when you hear a turbo car get stabbed and hit boostand it just all of a sudden revs up and takes off, except without the tyre screech or getting pushed back into the seat

In the Mrs EF i6, I ensure the car is always in power mode as it shifts to quick when in economy mode, in my EB 5.0L I leave it in economy mode as the car easily gets away from other traffic when the traffic light turns green.

At 1900rpm that would be just when the cam is getting into its power range. The BBM wont switch until 3800rpm.

the power/econ mode is for auto gear changes only, econ mode shifts gears early at low rpm...
does nothing for engine performance...
