Hey, just picked up an ed xr6 complete motor and ECU-but no loom. im putting it in my series 1 3.9MPEFI eb s pack.

what needs changing etc?
so......
1. will my loom accept the ED ECU?
2. if not and i have to swap looms also, can i get smart lock to work? i already have central locking (tibbie)
3. apparently the flywheels are different 3.9-4L, i have a 4L flywheel. so i need a 4L clutch kit yeah? it should bolt up to my T5.
4. the rocker cover is trashed. whats the best method to repaint it?
5. im doing a head gasket while its out, wheres a good place in SA for a bit of porting etc.?

thanks. all help muchly appreciated. see you SA guys on the dyno :)

You might have to change a few things.

2. if not and i have to swap looms also, can i get smart lock to work? i already have central locking (tibbie)

Install smartlock or a smartlock bypass system (im getting them $200 each)

Flywheels are the same size weight, But yeah, you'll need a 4.0ltr clutch, no problems changing the clutch for your T5

4. the rocker cover is trashed. whats the best method to repaint it?

Sand-blast it and paint it in VHT paint.

5. im doing a head gasket while its out, wheres a good place in SA for a bit of porting etc.?

no idea !

I put a ed xr6 in my ea ghia didnt chang anyting on the loom side but to save any hassels with how the auto would react to this engine swap i also put a 5speed in it as well and had no problem with it .the reason for the manual the ea is qiute a bit different to an eb and or ed in regards to computer and loom. but you will have no problem straight swap put the computer in and ur off. also some advice put a ef tappit cover on it and a set of thermo fans.
