Can always go Motec ! :D

Set your own speed and rev limiter, also determine how the cut takes place.. fuel, spark or combination. Can also set soft and hard cuts, and warning lights..

However, that said my speed limiter is still set at 180km/hr due to the fact that the falcons with the speed limiter have it there for a reason; speeds higher than 180km/hr are unsafe re: the tailshaft!

Mmm. its nice having a rev limiter at 7500rpm ;)

Tailshaft and all!!

I think you'd be surprised at how cheap it would be to get a suitable tailshaft made up for the falcons.. even a 2 piece would be a reasonable price.

Has anyone got figures?

Somebody in Sydney should call these guys and get a price.

http://sydneydriveline.com/auto.html

You can place an order on the web site, they give you the details on how to measure up for a new one.

Try and find a manual XR wagon :S

I'd still prefer a 2 piece shaft.

I was enquiring about this before Waggin, and was told that all LWB (wagons and utes too) come with the Alloy tailshafts which are the same as the XR6/Tcikford ones.

isnt the only reason it is cut at 180 because the tail shaft is unsafe, the xr6's were individually ballanced and thats why they let the computer not cut out. evan then xr6 brakes are no good when u try and stop from those speeds let alone the 250khm that theyl hit without the limiter.

I'm in the same boat. I'm fitting a megasquirt shortly so I'll have similar flexibilty to what waggin described. In the mean time though I'm out by around 30ks since my diff ratio change and running lower profile tyres which I use for racing (wakefield park in a few weeks) so it's a pain in the a*** topping out at around 150.

If you've got a lower ratio diff than 3.45 you could fit the speedo gear from a 3.45 for a few extra ks up top. It'll put your speedo out but if its only for circuit racing it doesn't really matter and you'd probably get to around 200ks before the limiter kicks in. Alternatively for another cheap fix/bypass you could fit a switch in the speed sender wire and flick it to disable the speedo. At more than 180ks you probably don't want to be messing around flicking switches but you could mount it conveniently to the wheel or even hook it up the the factory cruise control buttons if you have them.

Ideally, as suggested if you wanted to spend a few hundred bucks the best bet is to get a XR6 ECU.

What other mods have to done to the car you're racing ?
And where are you racing that 180ks isn't fast enough ? I hope you've upgraded the brakes!
