I have an EF fairmont and id like to know if i have an ecu from an EF XR6 can i just plug the XR6 one in and drive of or is there specifics i have to look out for ??

If the XR6 ecu is Automatic you can.
If its manual you will have no gearbox control and i think you will only have 3rd gear.

I should have added that there both from auto's.
So i have no probs then. Any nummbers or anything to look for an the ECU??.

Thats fine then should be all good! 4TDB Is the xr6 auto code... but there is a thread http://fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30186&start=0 if the code is different search for it at that link

Its cool i found the numbbers 4TDB is for an EF XR6 auto from what i have found so that what i am going to get , will it affect trip computer or anything like that??.

Thanks mate you have been a great help.
Im hopeless with all this fancy computer stuff , im used to 3 spannners and i can take a car appart *L*. Well ill be in the market for a cam extractors and exhaust next and the wagon will be good to go. Just bought the wife a WQ fiesta so shes over the EF.

No worries man! happy to help lol yea took me a bit of getting used to i had a vh commodore before all nuts bolts n hoses no computer stuff lol but it was a s**t... Thats good now shes over the EF now u get to have a play with it
