howdy all ive been searching for about half an hour an could find much or make sense on what i found

im looking at chaging my intake on my nc lane which has a 3.9l multipoint
in it. Too my BBM of my ef 4L ive stripped the ef alredy so im pretty sure i have very thing i need but im unsure on what is needed to be done?

if someone else has alredy done this and/or has some pics on what to do
all help will be greatly apperated.

You will also need to source an EL ECU to run the engine and BBM switch points.

You need to install all the hardware including the heater pipe that goes from behind the water pump around the back of the block, and the heater hoses are different from the heater box to the BBM.

You will need to mod the EB Log manifold loom to work on the BBM.

You will need to mount the BBM swtich solenoid and run the vacuum lines.

You will need to run wires from the EL ECU after adding in the appropriate pins, to the BBM Solenoid.

Keep the EA lower thermostat housing.

You will need to swap out the EF/EL accelorator pedal as they are different and use the EF/EL acceloratator cable.

Thats all I can remember off the top of my head.

yeh that sounds about right. I see if can dig up which pin on the ECU you need to run a wire to from the manifold solenoid. You fairlane would have cruise control so you need a EF/EL cruise cable which you need to modify to fit your existing cable (thats what i did).

you WILL also need a smartlock bypass. im suprised benj didnt pick up on this. 3.9 = NC1 = no smartlock. i had to use one and i have a series II 4.0 NC.

i have the full pin out diagrams i got given from benj a few months back

ooookay then sounds more and more like a real pain in the a*** may have to think twice before doing this!!!!!


Was thinking of changing the lane to a V8 but till then wanted to change the BBM over as she is slow of the line and having a half dead EF layng around figured that i could get away with this (sonuded) simple mod ,
but now may as just save up a bit and do the V8 swap over instead

Yeah i forgot too, i got my module from JMM for i think $160 can't remember. Seriously mate i nots a hard mod but if you dont know much about it mite seem difficult. :)

I got my smartlock bypass module off Ebay for $100 delivered.

I do have to ask why you want a V8. With all the cost and effort of converting to a V8 for a fair bit less, the six will still beat a stock one.

$160 im guessing, ebay hey i couldnt find em. My EB with its tickford motor and 3.45 kills my mates NL 5L fairlane, six shooter all the way. 5L need alot of work to make em decent

just because ive never owned a V8 and its a fairlane which should be a V8 :D and all my mates own either a lane or caprice with some sort of V8
not to metion theres nothing like a nice sounding V8 to wake you up in the morning on the way to work :P

Yes have to agree with you there the six will never sound as good as a v8. its up to you bud. To v8 or not v8? hmmmm. Hey a suggestion this would be expensive but a 5.4L out of an BA xr8 in a e-series!! I wonder if it would fit or if anyones done it. That would own! :)

I would kill for a 5.4 290 BOSS but from all the trouble that people have had with the BA's 6 and putting them into a e-series little lone making them run.
but still would love to have one

ok back to being serious now
what if i just in stalled the BBm and didnt worry about the butterflys.
so what im saying is if they stayed closed all the time would this effect the car much after 3800rpm if so would it be bad (well im guessing it would be )
