Ok, in an attempt to fix my lifter noise I tried to buy a new set of HLA's but they (repco) only sell the small ones for EF onwards..

Can I bolt a full rockergear set off a EF/EL onto my EBII motor so that I can get new HLA's??

Same engines right?

yes you can fit the later rocker gear to an early engine.

or you could just go to a different parts place and get the HLAs to suit your engine.

as stated above, however if your interested on changing the pedestal and rockers get ones out of an EA they are slightly larger. just get new lifters for it

just replace the ones that dont spring back in your hand when you compress them. They will be the ones that have the most tick.

yeah should be the dirtiest of the lot they look like EF EL ones, the smaller almost pin sized hole on the top is a give away, the other look like EA and EB-ED ones. can anyone else confirm?

100% certain the EF EL ones are correct.

what is the clean one then? Does anyone else think that the smaller HLA's are less prone to noise?

I think the cleaner one is out of an EA, the middle one is out of maybe an EBII or ED and the last one is out of an EF/EL...since they look the same as mine.

Mate, you can get a set of large HLAs from 'Coastal Engine Services' in mornington.
ph: +613 5976 2947.

that is if you wanna get 'em shipped to you. i got my HLAs from them, not only did they fit (yes i have an EL but they first gave me early series HLAs) but they were fully metal, no nylon.

take care & good luck
pete
