hey guys, just a quick one how can i recognise an XR6 motor except the obvious red rocker cover and then T engraved onto the front of the head, possibly numbers on the block or build plate any help is much appreciated cheers in advance

engine wise, thats it. Unless there is some one else knows another way.

If it's and XR, or a EF2/EL Ghia then it'll have one.

But yeah, the 'T' stamp on the head is the best way (everythign else can be faked easily).
edit: Oh, the head part number will start 94DT or 96DT. Non tickford will be 94DA or 96DA.

And don't forget about head part number 95DT for a ticky head.

Non Tickford also includes 95DA in the above lists.

Only the head and fuel reg was different. Everything else (block, bbm, etc) is exactly the same. I think the compliance plate has X stamped as the engine type... I'll check when I got for lunch and look under the bonnet.

My old work had a EL tickford motor sitting there they never got started cause most the electrical was f**k over in the accident but the motor stayed in tact. Is there a way of putting the EL tickford in my EF GLi.
What do i need to do?

you should'nt have any problems with it going in. as lone as you use your wiring harnes.

pull the dizzy out and put the sequencer from the EF engine it, use the EF loom and ECU.

I would also swap the fuel reg from the EF otherwise it will run too rich.
