If a mate of mine in a AU manual can do 15.0 with gears and LSD, im pretty confident that an EL/EF XR6 could do very similiar stock.

and NO im not stirring up trouble, your 220,000kms obviously is a factor but thats my opinion

you never answered if its manual or auto

What are you basing your knowledge on? A friends AU? s**t we got a smart one here, I think that tickford_6 may know a little bit more about cars that you, seeing as he is a mechanic

a stock eb xr6 manual pulls a 15.5, i'm guessing a ef or el would be a little under that

Just becuase the guys a mechanic, doesn't make him an expert on quater mile times does it?

Mate, if JaSey expected a better time from a 5 speed EF XR6 with extractors, exhausts etc, then who cares?

Personally, I think that a 15.0 flat for his car is good, but if I had a mate with a manual AU (non XR) that pulled a flat 15.0, I would expect better from an XR6...

i reckon my ef will better a 15.2 this winter, i want to replace the clutch with something better and try these new 255's i got.

a 15 flat is a pretty decent time, i don't think i've heard of an ef/el xr6 running a 14sec time in relatively stock trim.

there are a couple of au's around that are running 14's with extractors/exhaust/filter.
for some reason they go better than ef/el, it could be the ugly design is actually more aerodynamic.

this is stupid, you are comparing a different modle car that has less weight and different diff gears run on different drag strips..

what you seem to over look here is the traction is a big player in times.
and there is more to it then just your car has more power it should be quicker. yeah sure my car has stuff that bring the power up. it also has things that give it less traction. stiff suspension cuases less weight transfer on take off, that means less traction. stock AU springs and shocks are pretty soft. bilstein shocks and dobisport springs, not soft.

the AU carries a good 50KG less weight. and we've already seen the lighter EL xr6 is quicker then an EF because of less weight.

and last of all the track it self plays a big role in times. ours quite frankly is s**t house. the track is an old air strip from world war two. from the burn out pad to the 60ft marker is all cracked and the last 30m or so are slightly up hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! far from the quality of track you guys get to race on.

so tell me what MPH does you mates AU run?? also what about your car??

Now that you explained how s**t the track you raced on really is, then i agree that is a fair time, if you were go to a race track and timed properly, id think you would around 14s

what do you think?

Gotta love the lack of traction at the Townsville dragway. Everyone complains about it and it is a stuggle to put down a decent 60 foot time there. Plus I think the humidity and heat plays with things just a little some days.
A group of friends are trying to get at least 20-30 people together to hire out the strip for a day just for ourselves soon. Hopefully have everyone from Cairns/Tablelands and Townsville there.
