IF EL's actually do weigh less than an EF (which I'm really having a hard time phathoming this :) ), what's the difference and where has the EL saved weight???

actually electronically it isn't better, it's a fact that ford tossed the coil pack due to costs.
el's are pretty much better everywhere else (interior, suspension etc).

Who cares? The differences are so bloody minor, I doubt it would even be noticeable...

How an EL XR6 has a nicer interior than an EF XR6 has got me absolutely f**k!!! They are exactly the same!!! The only difference is the EF had a full cover for the ciggy lighter, whereas the EL didn't...Very weird comments that are flying around...Sounds like some people are just trying to talk up their cars. Don't worry, it's not uncommon...

Exterior styling is subjective. Personally I would prefer it if my EF had the original EF front, not the EL front.

jase, sounds like ur quite inexperienced when it comes to drag racing :P

I have not seen one EF/EL Xr6 manual unopened to run quicker then a 15.0. Depending on driver the average is 16.0-15.1ish.

To drop into the 14's a small cam would be required or a management system to get the most out of hte tune.

WTF? the interior trim is completely different, and the el looks a lot better.
i agree exterior is subjective, i just don't like EF front ends <that's not just for the xrs, in general>

oh and back on topic my xr6 ran 15.24 @ 92.31mph today at the drag day.
